Any contribution in the prevention of violence among youth is far more valuable than any kind of repression and striving to eliminate the consequences caused by violence. The family is the foundation for raising children, but under the pressure of modern life family members are becoming more and more alienated from each other. Together with the rise of the stressful environment in which parents work and children grow up rises the risk of conflict in the family. Frustrations in the family play a major part in forming a child's personality, and any deviation is quickly reflected in the street and among peers. Each child and each parent need help in the process of growing up and raising children. Family supervision has to be complemented by social supervision. The legal system in the Republic of Croatia has formally regulated the legal protection of children and youth, but it seems that it has also brought about a fear of taking actions against the deviant behaviour of minors.
