In May 2009 in the Stari Grad underground garage in Rijeka the figure of a woman was painted in order to illustrate that these spaces were reserved for women with children, pregnant women, families with children, but also for fathers if their children are with them. This idea was created by listening to our clients' requests, i.e. our women clients' needs, and by doing so 9 parking spaces in the garage were reserved for women. These parking spaces differ from the other spaces in the garage by their width; they are 1,3 m wider, and when users of these spaces park their vehicles, they can almost fully open all the doors of the vehicle.
Women didn't get this privilege so that they could more easily park their car, but rather so that pregnant women and mothers with small children and their prams could more easily enter and exit their cars. These parking spaces are also meant for fathers who arrive with their children and pull out prams from their cars, as well as for whole families with children. Furthermore, all 9 spaces lie near the very garage exit, which is a further privilege for the fairer gender.
